| Well, after driving around for over 3 years with a mix & match ghetto-stereo setup, I am finally getting some custom work done for my convertible. I have asked many people with convertibles along the way, getting pics from a lot of them (thanks guys), and this is the start of the project. We are removing the T-shaped panel that is in-between the seats and behind the armrest,
and building an enclosure to hold an 8” sub (in this case, an 8” JL Audio 8w3 sub, which is 75W RMS). Using this location allows me to keep ALL my storage space in the rear deck section of the vert. Stealth is the hardest to maintain. There isn’t a good place anywhere in the cabin to ‘hide’ a subwoofer. The rear deck is probably the best location, but then I lose my storage space. So I plan on having a towel or some other type of disguise for it. Any other ideas will be appreciated!

The sub will sit high up in the panel to allow for both elbow/arm room for the armrest and to provide a better soundstage as the woofer will now be pointed at the windshield and reflecting off of it as opposed to having the sound go up and out of the cabin. (There’s more room at the top of the panel to allow for a more horizontal mounting).
I hope to add more pics as the build progresses. Also, I have some kickpanel enclosures that are already basically completed. I will take pics of those soon as well.
When all is said and done, here’s what I will have in the cabin. 11 speakers (if you count a component set as two)- 5 ¼” MB Quart component set in the kickpanel enclosures (4) plus 6 ½” Boston Acoustic component set in the doors (stock location) (4) plus 2-6 ½” Infinity Kappa Series in the rear next to the rear deck (fiberglass enclosures as well) (2), and then the 8” JL Audio 8w3 sub in the T-panel (1).
